Welcome to my site,This project will form part of the human hereditary and health in Africa (H3Africa) Bio-bank Information management System (BIMS) project. H3Africaaim is to improve the health of the African population and to establish and develop the African scientists’ network. Bio-specimen samples stored in bio-banks locally are invaluable and a unique resource for research and clinical purposes.
as decided to create a mobile application to decode the bio-specimens’ barcodes and send it to the server for updating the database.
A biological specimen is small sample material from a person; such as a blood, urine or tissue sample. The specimen results are taken and then stored in a repository for diagnosis and research purposes. Bio-specimens are being used by researchers to develop ways to identify genes and their functions, but they are also used in analyzing clinical information about patients’ health and diseases.
Android mobile device will be use to provide input data for the laboratory information management system for South Africa National Bioinformatics Institute by developing a mobile application that can be used in the field to take a photograph of the barcode of a bio-specimen sample, enter data, about the specimen, and update a remote server with this information.
