The aim of this project is to convert a remote controlled fixed-wing drone into an autonomous drone that can be configured to navigate a user provided route. The drone can then be used as a platform to attach many different sensors to collect information, for example, connecting the pollution monitoring sensor, that is currently being developed by UWC students, to the drone to collect information about pollution levels. The use of drones is becoming more prevalent in today's day and age to perform a variety of tasks efficiently as well as in situations where the task to be performed is too dangerous, expensive or difficult to be performed by humans.
