Virtual Image Peephole

Project


Imagine there to be a large virtual screen in front of you. Now imagine you can only view that screen using your phone as a peep-hole.

Viewing various parts of that virtual screen would only be possible by moving your phone around to a corresponding position.

My project comprises of techniques that would estimate and determine the physical motion of a mobile Android device. These techniques consists of processing camera frames in the background to detect translation motion of the device and accelerometer readings to detect tilt. These two factors determine the way how the interface reacts.

I'm Kyle Patience. I'm a 21 year old student currently studying my Honours in Computer Science at the University of the Western Cape. I completed my undergraduate degree in 2014. I'm fascinated by Computer Science and the possibilities it entails.

I consider myself an all rounded person and enjoy the many aspects of life.
